is laminate flooring good for kitchen?
some laminates look like wood and some like tile. are they made with different materials? what flooring do you suggest for kitchen?
I know porcelain and ceramic tiles are good, but it is not an option for us. we live upstairs.
Laminates are okay as long as you don’t get them really wet like from a major leak. The substrate that is used on laminate flooring is not water resistant and will swell if it gets wet. You can mop a laminate floor but you can’t flood it with water. Even a small leak that is continuous can cause problems.
If you are trying to live with a tight budge then vinyl in either blocks or sheet vinyl would be a good idea. You can get it in some very nice patterns.
What is the square foot rate for laying laminate flooring in Southern Illinois.?
I have been asked to lay 1400 square foot of laminate and want to know what to charge per square foot. I also lay ceramic and porcelain tiles and that rate is different.
It varies a bit all over, but 2/3$ a s/f is an average. With that big a job, you can do it for 2 / 2.25& a s/f. Lower if your in a wide open area.Once you get the hang of it, you can easily do 300/500 s/f a day depending on the lay out and how you plan ahead.
