ceramic tiles – using a Dremel tool to make a small hole?
I have some small (4 "square), the decorative tiles I wish I had a small hole in (for hanging / installation). Is a Dremel tool for this purpose? If so, some tips and suggestions the type of bits to use for this? Thank you!
My dremmel came with some pottery and some masonry in the kit. I have used both for drilling holes in ceramic tile I painted and hung with trivet. Here are some tips. First make a strip of tape mark a location where you want the hole in the forehead and another piece of tape on the back, where drilling will come through. I was the blade drilling and try to scratch the tile into the hole. Second, wear safety glasses because there will be flights of the ceramic powder that is unpleasant when it gets into your eyes. Third, be careful the amount of pressure used, the drill do the work. It is tedious and takes time to switch through the window and down. I managed some of my holes are in a bit of an angle. Finally, make sure the hole is not too close the edge of the tile. I broke the tile, make the hole too close to shore and I had pictures of crack, because the weight of the piece hanging out of the hole was more than could be supported.
should i use square-foot marble tiles for the walls around the bathtub?
my dad said that we could do that, but i say it wouldn’t look nice. i say it should be for flooring, he said it would be too slippery. in my opinion we get small WHITE ceramic tiles for the walls around the bathtub and marble on the flooring. he’s just saying that because he bought a whole lot more than he should have because they were on a drastic sale.
I think both of you are correct. It is too big for the bath and too slippery for the floor but would look better on the floor, so you are correct. Check out this site for all the new glass tile. Good luck!
