Fall 2010 Watch Trends

The leaves are falling, there’s a slight breeze and Starbucks is serving pumpkin spiced lattes again.  It’s hard to believe we are already starting fall but its time bring the coats, scarves and boots back out of the closet.  Since this is of course a wrist watch site we will give you some tips on what is hot this season in the watch industry.

Fall Watch Trends

• Bigger is better - this is not a new trendy for fall but more of a continuing one. Oversized, bold cases are hot for guys and girls alike.  The larger dial will get your noticed and your friends will be able to read the time from across the room.

Look for a woman’s case size 50MM+ or a man’s case size 60MM+ if you want to go big.

 

 

• One color to rule them all – monochromatic or a single color watch is sleek, understated and unique.  Summer is over so you will want to look for more neutral colors like black or white though which are also the most versatile.

I also like monochromatic turquoise, cream and brown patterns for a dressed down look that goes well with fall colors and is a more unique time piece.

 

 

 

• Ceramics, not just for pottery class anymore – half jewelry, half time piece ceramic watches offer elegance and originality in a world of otherwise metallic and leather watches.

Expect to pay close to a $1,000 for most while some can come in under $500 if you shop around.  Another alternative is a plastic or resin watch that looks like ceramic and can retail for under $100 if you are shopping on a budget.

 

 

 

 

 

• Chronograph just for those cool little dials -okay so maybe you don’t need a timer feature on your wrist watch but the detail it adds to the look may make it worth having.  Show that your watch is more than a bracelet with 2 hands spinning on it but full of useful readouts and gadgets.

   

As watch dials get bigger chronograph dials help fill the space and just in case you need a timer and your iPhone is across the room.

 

 

 

• Ultra modern living – the future of watches is upon us with interesting LED and digital dials. Watchmakers are finding ways to make a watch look less like a watch and more like a work of art.  Many of these also feature a silicon strap which makes it light weight and comortable.

Previously only available to super heroes these future watches are now for the masses.
