I would like to put ceramic tile on my wood floor would not be a problem?
I tile every day of my life, and to see a few legitimate answers. The stability of the plant is important, like how to define WOOD. I often layer of tiles, no problems but no particle board or MDF. Certianly no more than a hardwood or laminate flooring. The standard today for a wooden support is to add concrete panels first. Of course, not necessary in a slab. You can use the first layer, but if you do not have the level of thin or smooth tile installation, could not go well. Tile layers to a greater chance of success, would be preferable to 03.04 double substrate, most houses ever. Of course you notice any flex the floor, and should add more substrate. Concern about laying ceramic tile over concrete?
When I place a 12 x 12 dry ceramic tile on the concrete floor it seesaws about an 1/8″ in several spots on the floor. Will the thin-set be enough to keep the tile stable or do I need to do something else like put down some sort of a backerboard. Previously the floor was covered with vinyl tiles which I removed cleanly.
no, you don’t need any leveler or backer board on concrete, instead of using a 3/8 in. trowel, use a half in. trowel, will give you a heavier mortar pattern and make the tiles easier to lay and contour to each other
