The Hidden Dangers Of Some Imported Goods
Recently there have been high profile incidents involving dangerous goods which have been purchased from China. The American media has just begun warning consumers about the dangers of cheaply produced goods from a country which is not known for its strict safety regulations. After methodically going through product recall press releases, it was discovered that mainstream media is still only reporting a fraction when it comes to dangerous products from China.
A timeline has been created that shows the large amount of dangerous and faulty Chinese product scandals that have occurred.
Toxic Overalls: Chinese made two piece overall-sets for children were recalled by Samarra Brothers based on findings that the coating on the snaps on the shirts and overalls contain unwarranted amounts of lead. This poses a serious risk of lead poisoning and would adversely affect the health of young children.
Heaters: 35,000 oscillating ceramic heaters were recalled by their buyers after the heaters were reported to get hot and smolder which would pose danger to the consumers.
Defective Wiring in Fans: 300,000 Chinese made fans were recalled by Holmes Group after it was found that they had faulty wiring that could cause a fire.
Dangerous Candles: 46,000 sets of Tea Light Candles which were imported were recalled by Sally Foster after it was discovered that the candles which had a clear plastic shell could liquefy or burn. This poses a serious problem to the consumers.
Dryers: 18,000 Mini Hair Dryers were recalled by Metropolis Beauty because they were not outfitted with an immersion protection plug which would prevent electrocution if the hair dryer fell in water. Industry standards require that all electric hand held hair dryers are to have electric shock protection devices.
Remote controls: 10,000 DVD Player remotes were recalled by Best Buy after it was found out that improper battery replacement in the remote could result in overheating and present a burn hazard.
Lead Poisoning Hazard: Big Lots stores recalled 115,000 children’s rings as they contained dangerous levels of lead.
Lamps: 2,600 Chinese made lamps that had faulty sockets were recalled by their buyers in Georgia. It was reported that the lamps were electrically defective.
Accessories: Jewelry sets were recalled by Kmart stores as they were found to contain high levels of lead.
Toy Batteries: 240,000 toy vehicles battery packs were recalled by JAKKS Pacific after there were reports of them melting or igniting.
In the event that you are seeking redress after purchasing any of these items, then you need to hire a Defective Products Attorney to protect your rights as a consumer.
