What is the best way to warm my iguana cage at night?
My brother just bought an iguana, but much research I spent an hour to find countless information. I know they need the deposit to be kept at 70-75 degrees night and must be dark for them to sleep, but it is kind of cold here, 60-65, and I'm not sure what to use. ceramic heat emitters seem to have some inconveniences, "Please, help the small-iggy life can possibly be in danger!
NO! Not not feed crickets, insects or other! NO Iguana be digested protein meat insects or rodents, and finally, they develop renal failure. They are strict herbivores, so it should get the greens and vegetables. Iguana pellets are also zero, which are not in good health. It's OK to offer a few times, but this is not a staple. —- Sorry if you knew, but I do not think the poster Previous was right about the diet of crickets, gutloaded or otherwise. They may also have yogurt EVER. The only reason that you must have either if you take antibiotics, and need something to restore the intestinal flora. If put on antibiotics in their life (20 + years), then you should use the probiotic BeneBac to restore intestinal flora. If you could find it, then soy yogurt would be good. Other then for this reason, never give yogurt. Well, in the problem of heat. ceramic heat emitters is good to use, but be careful with them, do not want to burn the iguana. Spot CHE clip dome lamp with a ceramic base (the part that screws the bulb), then hold the lamp above the cage. You do not want or CHE bulb type in the cage, because if it touches iguana, he / she will receive severe burns. The only way to keep a bulb or other HEC in the cage is to build a cage with wire. If you do not want / I can not use a CHE, then you must use tape or heat radiating panels. Make sure check the temperature with a digital probe thermometer to make sure they are correct. DO NOT use the economic line thermometers /, which can be up to 20 degrees off! Place the tube directly in the industry (or other) iguana sit in front room, leaving at least 30 minutes to get an accurate reading. If the iguana is in / touch probe, the reading will not be accurate. If temperatures are too high to adjustments, and check time again. Remember, if temperatures are too high during the night, the iguana will not be able to pass a good night's sleep, which can lead to aggressive behavior, and / or disease. You must also use the thermometer to check if digital sensors temperature during the day. Here is a good site with information from large iguanas. It also has a detailed list of what can / I can not eat and why. http://www.greenigsociety.org/ is very sad that your brother would maintinence an animal so high without proper research for this, but is actually making great accountability and support. Good luck!
What wattage heat emitter should I use.?
My anole tank is a 30 gallon glass tank(24x12x24) I want to warm it with a ceramic heat emitter but I am not sure what wattage would work best with my size tank. Also, for anoles UVB requirements I want to use a compact fluorescent bulb. I have a tank hood that hold 3 bulbs so if I use those what wattage and what UVB output should I use, 5.0 or 10.0?
well one its depends on what type of (I’m guessing its for a reptile) it is. if its a lizrad its needs to be hot and if its 30 gallon then you should 10.0 wattage because your cage is so big. i have a bearded dragon and when it got big i got the 10.0 wattage.
hope i helped.
