The chance of getting into MIT for graduate school?

I am currently in 3rd year at the Northeastern U. (5 years of college) to study Mechanical Engineering. Currently I have an average of 3.4, and I did six months of cooperative have been an engineering company specializing in co-fire ceramics at low temperature. I am also in the Society of Hispanic engineers in the North East. Even if it does not say much, given almost every day go to the MIT library, with only few blocks and because the atmosphere is much nicer. I have two years to nail myself even more. Apart from the obvious (Keep acing My last class), what do you think I should do to get a pretty good shot? I will also make two other co six months, the OPS in the future. We hope at least one of them will be Raytheon and General Electric. I also got a 5 on my fashion courses in high school AP Calc … I also been on the Dean's list every semester since I started college

Grad schools do not care about their study notes certificate or test results. Have you published? Patents? Research experience? Get one and play them up – and raise your GPA is a bit weak for many graduate programs, much less the MIT.

Mat sci/chem engineering (current/graduated college students please)?

i’m undertaking a study on zirconia nanoparticles, and i need help understanding alot of the concepts

can anyone recommend some books/online references that are useful in the areas of ceramics, nanoparticles, solid state physics, etc.

thanks alot
i only posted in chemistry and engineering because it applied to both subjects…

You have chosen a really interesting topic. To be honest i only know that ther are current researches going on the topic including our university, maybe you want to check if there is anything regarding it, chem.ubbcluj.ro, and chose the english version, hope its alreday working:)
And as a piece of advice, I dont know whree are you from, but in any bigger cities you can find lot lot more in a library then on the net. These kind of specialized articles are not for free. Your college must have some papers, chemical engineering references, in the library you can ask for them, it might take lots and lots of time, but there you can get the latest research things as well, and recommended books.
