Why are my cats so damn staticky?
My cats are so staticky that crack whenever pets. It has been tamed into a my bed and static electricity _sparked_ effectively – and with a blue spark visible on his shield. I have a ceramic electric heater in the room but holy shit … do not want to put a cat on fire while stroking.
I suggest you hand lotion – lotion, baby would probably be preferable, because it is toxic – before touching your cat. This should dispel some of the static. A cat playing with wet hands may also help. (Note I say wet, not Wet – hands and your cat does not love you more! Much wet) Yes – definitely get a humidifier. Living in dry conditions makes you and Chat tend to dry skin and hair, as well as modify its respiratory system for a while. You get used to things after a while yes, but when the air is dry season, time has been adjusted to your body, again wet summer!
Which is cheaper to run: electric heater (ceramic) or air conditioner (reverse cycle heating)?
Some of my friends have said that it is cheaper to run an air conditioner as a heater rather than an electric heater. Is this true? How can it be true – I thought an electric heater converts 100% energy into heat so how can an air conditioner be any better than this?
Because the air conditioner uses its energy to move heat, not create it. It can deliver 3-4 times the heating performance of the same wattage directly converted to heat energy. Air conditioners and home heat pump systems move heat using a refrigerant cycle. Heat pumps using a reverse sterling cycle, which doesn’t involve phase change and works much closer to adiabatically for higher performance, are now in use for portable ice chests and show promise for inclusion in construction.
